Chloe

My sister, Jenn, made my announcement for Chloe. She also came and took the pictures and made the cute headband. I love being able to benefit from her many artistic talents. Thanks, Jenn! Here are a few more pictures that she took. I love how peaceful and happy Chloe looks.

Happenings

Chloe has had a great week. She really is easy going to be around. She keeps me up a little too much at night but hopefully we will solve that soon. She likes to sleep all day but is starting to wake up a little more each day. We have had to take her in a few times to the doctor to weigh her because she was not gaining any weight and kept losing. Finally, today she gained three ounces. Yeah, Chloe! I forgot how fun it is to snuggle with a new little one. We love having her around. (I have had a hard time getting a picture of her without a grouchy look on her face. This one will have to do until Aunt Jenn comes this weekend with her photography skills.)All ready for church. We snuck into Heath's cousin's missionary homecoming for her first big outing.
This was our big project for the summer. Hannah decided she needed her room pink to share with Chloe. We changed it from purple and added bead board and a shelf. I still need a few more decorations and some curtains but it is coming along. I love how it turned out.
The first day of school! They were so ready and excited to go. We have a big first grader and Kindergartner. Hayden's favorite part of the day was riding the bus. Hannah loved having two recesses with lunch and all the projects they had. Overall, they had a great day and love their teachers. You forget how quickly Kindergarten goes by but then it felt like Hannah was gone a long time now that she has the full time schedule.
You got to love a little (or a lot) of rain to start a first day of school!

Welcome Baby Girl

Our family is so excited to welcome
Chloe
into our home.

We were a little surprised when she came five weeks early, but she was ready to be here. They tried to stop it but she was determined to come. She was born on Friday, August 20th and weighed 6 lbs 13 oz and was 20 inches long. She spent 24 hours in the NICU just so they could monitor her because of how early she was. She passed all of the tests really fast and then spent a night in the normal nursery before we got to take her home. It feels so good to not be pregnant and to enjoy this little girl. I really am feeling great. She is so sweet and great to be around. Hannah and Hayden are loving every second with here and just can't get enough of her. Heath did a wonderful job taking care of everything this weekend. We couldn't ask for a better dad. It is nice to have a week with her all together before we start the school schedule next week. Here are a few pics from the weekend.

We are so thankful to all the family and friends who have helped out so far and given all thier well wishes. It is so nice to know she is so loved already. We went to her first doctor visit today and she is still doing well. She is down to 5lbs 15 oz today so now we need to put some weight on her again. Dr. Wally says she is a very healthy baby which we are so thankful for. One night in the NICU was enough for us. I don't know how parents do it for weeks on end.

We didn't want to have her sleep in her crib yet but we can't get a cradle to fit in our room so this was our solution. It actually is working out really well. She loves her little bed and it is nice to have her close to us.

Summer Wrap-up

A few other random things that happened around here this summer.
Hannah all dressed up to go with her Grandma to Miss IF pageant. She was so excited because she got to meet Ali and Christina from America's got talent and her cousin Kelsi won the pageant.
A lot of sleeping in around here (seriously how can he be comfortable this way?).
Hannah playing in the sand at Bear Lake with her cousins. I love this lake. I would like to go back for longer next year. The kids loved it because the water was so warm and the sand great to play in!
Hayden trying to learn how to water ski at bear lake. This water ski tube made it a little easier. He absolutely loves doing anything on the water and has no fear. Taking it easy in the lazy river at Ross Park.
Hayden's face all painted like a lion after a great cousin birthday party.
Things seem to be slowing down around here this week. The kids are starting to ask "what can we do?" a lot. I think that means it is time for school to start again. We will be ready for a change of pace and for this baby to get here. I am now in a pretty safe zone so I say she can come whenever she wants. We are ready to meet her.

Thornton Family Reunion at Granite

We had a great time last week going to one of my favorite camping spots for our Thornton Family Reunion. Granite Hot Springs is a place we went every year when I was a kid and we looked forward to it so much. It holds a lot of good memories. It was so fun to go back and great to see family that I haven't seen for awhile. My kids had a great time playing, hiking, swimming, rafting, eating, and hanging out with cousins. I had a great time watching them do it. Heath rented us a trailer so that I was in a lot more comfort being up there.

The waterfalls right by the campground.

Hanging out around the firePlaying minute to win it games.

The younger Thornton cousins with their new t-shirts they colored. Harley having a great time camping and playing with my sisters dog, Lulu.

This is natural hot springs so the water is pretty warm. They had a great time swimming.

This is a picture of our boat on one of the trips down. Hayden actually went down the whole stretch this time and had a pretty good time besides the water being too cold. Hannah went half way down and got out before the waves were big. I think she is almost brave enough to do it. They had a great time. They only lost a few people out of the boat this time. Thanks Laura for planning a great reunion. It was a great summer adventure.
