Salt Lake Trip

For Spring Break we are mostly working on the basement. We knew it wouldn't be much fun and a lot of work so we snuck in a quick trip to Utah before we started painting this week. We started with a trip to downtown SLC. We stayed at the Marriott, walked around temple square, checked out the City Creek mall and then finished with a Jazz game. It was Hannah's first game. She loved it. Chloe and I only made it until the second quater. It was a good thing that our hotel was close and I could take her back to bed. Hannah and Hayden had a great time with their dad at the game.
Then we headed to the Huls house for the rest of the weekend. We always have a really great time when we are there. Jenn took the kids pictures, the kids played in the nice weather, we roasted marshmallows over a fire, went to church with them, went on a hike and on the way home we hit a few stores looking at things for our giant wishlist for the basement.
Shaun can always find fun little creatures for the kids to hold when we go on hikes. Bad picture of Hayden but he really was having a fun time holding the lizard.
We finished priming the basement and have the ceilings done. I will start with the colors tomorrow. We still have a lot of work but it is starting to look like a real place down there. It will be great to have it done.

Hayden's 7th Birthday

Birthday's are always a great event that seem to end up being a week long celebration. Hayden's started with two family parties the week before. He is lucky to celebrate his birthday with his Grandma Thornton on one side and Rylin on the other. He got to celebrate a few days later at school and then he finally made it to his real birthday on Sunday. He woke up to his chosen breakfast of french toast, bacon and candy syrup. He opened his gifts which he was so excited for the lava lamp and an alarm clock that has woke us all up the last few days. They sang to him at church with the treat from the bishop. He chose a steak dinner and we spent the evening making cupcakes and playing games. The next day he had a few friends over for a small party. They had lunch, went ice skating and then back to our house to play and open presents. He is lucky to have such great friends. We are lucky to have such a great seven year old.
The crew ice skating. They had the place to theirselves. It surprises me how crazy boys can be. I think they all went home with some new bruises but had a great time.

Happy 7th Birthday, Hayden.

Swim Meet

Hayden has been participating in the Apple Swim Club for the last eight weeks. It has been a lot of fun and hard work but it has been so great that he has learned so much. Even though it was hard for him to go sometimes, he stuck with it and went from kind of being able to swim to swimming laps with no problem. On the last day they had a swim meet, he did great. He raced in the freestyle and the backstroke and got really good times for both races. It was fun to watch.

She looks Great!

A few weeks ago I got a call from Hannah's teacher saying she thinks she needs glasses. She said that a lot of girls were saying that Hannah was glaring at them but her teacher couldn't believe it because Hannah is such a nice girl. She started watching her and realized that she was squinting because she couldn't see. We set an appointment with the eye doctor and her teacher was right. I'm so glad she noticed because her parents who don't wear glasses weren't cluing in. The doctor said it has probably been this way for awhile and her vision certainly wouldn't let her pass the driver's test. She received her glasses two days later and she is now so glad to be able to see. It helps that she looks really cute in them and a little too grown up for my taste. Today was her first day to wear them at school so hopefully all went well. She was a little nervous about what everyone would think, but I'm sure it was fine. It was one of those big moments in life.

V-Day 2012

Our Valentine's Day told through pictures:
Hayden's Valentine box with a monster face to match.
Hannah's cute painted box.
Our Valentine breakfast minus the pink candy syrup.

Chloe's valentine from her dad.
Helping with Hayden's school party. He was having a good time so I'm not sure why the sad face. 1st grade is a great place to be on Valentine's day.
I snuck in and grabbed a picture of Hannah's party also. It looked like they were having a lot of fun.

The day ended with a candle light dinner. I could cook anything and they would be happy as long as the candles were burning, but luckily the mal was a success. The day was a lot of work but fun to celebrate and make it special.
